Review on 🚘 High-Quality Front Hood Lift Supports for Ford Explorer & Mercury Mountaineer: 1996-2001 Models by Efrain Khan

The lift cylinders were the same size as the stock cylinders and were easy to install. I noticed that the cylinders don't give the same lift pressure as the OEM cylinders, but they have enough pressure to hold the hood open. When I opened the hood a few weeks after installing the new cylinders, they both made a loud "squeaking" noise, like there was no grease on the shafts. I applied a light coat of white lithium grease to both and it silenced them just long enough to raise and lower the hood twice. They both started making noise again. I then applied a light coat of grease to the shafts, which helped, but even that didn't eliminate the dry, tugging noise made when the cylinder shafts extended and retracted. I don't know what to say other than that this is not normal and I have not had this problem with any of the new cylinders I have bought from other companies over the years.
