It's good though. for raclette grills

First of all it works quite well, but there are a few small problems. It's still a good electric grill, but quite expensive considering the cons ($97.99 at time of review). In fact, price is the main reason for downgrading to 3 stars. First, spatulas are not good at all. They aren't sanded that well, so the edges were so chippy that the washcloth got into your hands. So be very careful with them as splinters are no fun. Then the tips are so thick that it can be difficult to use them. When I first used this I figured I'd keep it simple, so a pound of bacon and 7 eggs. I made 4 eggs which just cracked open and fell into the bottom bowls and 3 were whipped with some milk and grated cheese (the other 4 bowls filled up perfectly). That filled all 8 trays and I placed them on the bottom and fried the bacon on top. The bacon had to be cooked in 2 passes, no big deal, it's not a huge grill which is great. The bacon cooked fairly quickly, and the fact that the fat came off meant very little splattering, a big plus. A pound of bacon almost completely fills a small fat trap, wish it was a little more but not that much. So the top cooking surface is great. But the bottom is not so good. It doesn't cook evenly and that's due to the element. One part of the element (thermostat side) does not heat up like the opposite end. This means you have to move the pans back and forth to cook the food evenly. It's also difficult to get the right temperature for the top and bottom. So to get the perfect heat for the bacon, the eggs need some time to cook. I cooked a pound of bacon faster than 7 eggs in 2 batches. When the bacon was done, I basically turned it all the way up and quickly ran out of eggs. Now that it's shiny, it's clean, nothing sticks, there is little to wash and it degreases easily. I know it sounds like I don't like to grill, but I really do. It has many uses, it's just about planning the right meal or meal prep. If you have a large family and are trying to cut down on fat, this is perfect for frying. Overall this is a solid grill, I just wish the heating element was placed a little differently. The spatulas (which look nice) just aren't very good and to be honest I'll probably throw them away, but they're probably more of an added extra to add value (surprisingly to me, they detract from the value). This is a decent well made grill. but personally I think it's just a bit on the expensive size.
