Review on 40111201 Dryer Drum Belt: Compatible with Maytag, Amana, Admiral Dryers – Replacement for WP40111201, AP6009126, 14218936, 40051501 by Christopher Cortez

My dryer strap was slipping so I replaced it with this one. We didn't know what was going on at first, but the dryer smelled like skunk. It ended up being a new aftermarket belt that I just installed. As the dryer heats up, the belt that comes in contact with the hot rotating drum also heats up and begins releasing skunk odors into the dryer body. Dirty air is then drawn in through the heater and then rises up into the drum along with the laundry, leaving a stench on all items being dried. After 2 downloads I ran the dryer with no contents and it still smelled very musty. Since the new strap was the only thing that was changed before this problem started occurring, I ordered a new original hydromassage strap and replaced it. Since the installation of the original factory belt, there have been no more smells even after 4 charges. A bundle of towels and a bundle of clothes went bad and it took 2 washes to smell normal again. I recommend spending a little more and only getting factory parts for whatever machine you have. Don't bother blowing skunk gas on your clothes to save a few bucks, that's for sure.
