The flange on them wasn't as wide as the stock and didn't sit on the rim with as much metal. They were only attached to the thinnest part of the rim. See photos with old and new wheels. The photos show that the new shiny nut has a smaller diameter where it attaches to the rim. Not much metal holds the edge. Older nuts have a wider flange and fit snugly on the rim. They look good, seem well built and solid, but I felt like they should have more metallic contact than the originals. They were used on the stock wheel on a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
