Every time it rained my gate wouldn't work properly because the lenses of the reflector and the small receiver got splashed with water. This item is pretty easy to install. I had to cut a groove in the hood so I could route the wiring through the receiver side without disconnecting the wires. During the last rainy winter I had NO problems. This absurd looking little case protected the reflector and receiver from water droplets.
