Review on Cangshan TS 1020885 Swedish Sandvik 14C28N Steel 17-Piece Knife Block Set with Walnut Handle by Kimberly Sanders

So I scoured the market for new kitchen knives and found that for some reason Revain had thrown this unnamed Chinese brand in my face. There weren't many reviews, but the ones that were were good. Decided to see what could be damaged? Fully synthetic handles, Karo (trust me, the biggest mistake you can make is wooden handles in a kitchen knife, bad idea), Sandvik steel, much more than a Karo, this stuff goes into premium pocket knives for $200-$300 plus uses design, the price is quite high but not unreasonable, and the full stem design is amazing. I decided the risk was worth it. So, having worked as a salesman for Cutco, I know what a quality kitchen knife looks, feels, and performs. These are quality knives. Even serrated steak knives cut cleanly through a piece of paper, I did a chef's knife cut test on a cardboard box and it split the 15 inch box down the sides without even trying to cut. I cut an orange in half with a paring knife and almost cut myself because the cut was even easier than I thought and almost didn't move my thumb in time. These things are sharp, feel durable, feel good in the hand and are real performers. Now obviously there will be some downsides. First, steam gauges have a serrated edge, which should be avoided whenever possible. Yes, slicing the meat can help, but you end up needing to sharpen the knife, and sharpening the blade is very difficult, if not impossible. Coincidentally, this is why I suggest not buying Cutco serrated knives, as they use a patented design that cannot be sharpened without being sent back to the factory. and just didn't look that cool. It sucks, but it holds knives, scissors, and a whetstone quite well, so I'll live with that. This is a fantastic set at this price never mind the brand and Chinese origin buy with confidence.
