How to calm a restless kitten that's biting!

Our vicious cat has a bite problem. He was not properly socialized as a kitten and when we brought him home at 8 weeks old he hated the sight of our hands and responded to his fear by latching, biting and scratching our legs, arms and sometimes our face. Although we tried cat claw pads, the Comfort Zone Plug-in Diffuser, the Cool Kitty Pheromone Spray, and the No Stress Cat Spray from Pet Organics, and took him to numerous vet visits for recommendations, he was eventually diagnosed as playing by a cat behaviorist . . induced aggression. She gave us a lot of tips for a kitten with her behavior which I will share here: 1) Pheromone collars work MUCH better than replacement diffusers because the smell is continuous! We've tried many types of calming collars with our kitty, including more expensive ones like Nuturecalm and Thunderease; However, these brands are much more expensive and do not work as well. Sentry Collar is the best because it has the strongest scent. Over time we learned that our kitty needed a new collar every 3 weeks to control his behavior and not every 30 days as recommended in the pack. In addition, package directions recommend shaking off excess powder before applying it to the kitten. Not correct! If you do, you're essentially making it inefficient. We always needed two of us to put it on our kitten, leaving at least two fingers under the collar and between your kitten's skin. 2) Comfort Zone Insert Diffuser: We used this in every room. Our kitten came to him every day and sniffed it. However, we're not sure if it actually did anything in hindsight, but he did enjoy the good smell of it. Our vet said the American Cat Hospital Association states that every veterinary office should now have a plug-in diffuser in every room to calm kittens when they go to the veterinary office. Negative behavior: A cat psychologist suggested that cats hate water and that spray bottles can stop negative behavior before it even starts. It helped if the aerosol can was nearby and in hand before the attack was supposed to take place; However, there were times when our kitty forced us to be in a part of the room that didn't have a sprayer. Simple solution - put more aerosol cans everywhere! 4) Toys, toys and more toys: Our kitty wanted to play all day, which was good for him, but we couldn't give him that either. because it would generate far more fiestiness. We were told to limit his playtime to 15 minutes a day and only give him toys that our hands are not connected to, including stick toys, round toys, kitty kicksticks and robot toys. We were told to only give him catnip once a week as the kittens will become more tolerant and less effective for them over time. During the time we weren't playing, to our surprise, largely due to the pheromone collar, our kitten began to snuggle up to us! We were so happy he came and kneaded in our laps and purred and demanded our attention, although we never thought it possible before! suggested placing different types of scratching posts throughout the house. We bought him fancy and expensive scratching posts, including the SmartCat Ultimate Scratching Post and the PetFusion 3-sided Vertical Scratching Post, but he preferred the cheapest kind: Fat Cat Big Mama's Scratch 'n Play Ramp. We loved these the best and they were so cheap they could fit in multiple rooms and the corrugated liner could be flipped over to extend its life! 6) Cat Apartment and Room with a View: Our feline psychologist pointed out that our kitty needs entertainment and constant stimulation throughout the day. She suggested we buy an apartment for cats and it was a great decision. We originally purchased the Armarkat Cat Beige Tree model and it was very solid and well built. We moved and had to get another one and the replacement was cheaply built and broke immediately: cat tree playhouse, home furniture, bed, pet house. I would not recommend this purchase. However, we also bought a Nature's Hangout Window bird feeder with a removable tray - probably the best idea we've ever had. Since then, all sorts of birds have been flying to the window and chirping, and my kitten even learned to chirp in response! We got him this toy for the winter months when the birds fly south for the winter and he misses his friends. The bird toy has the best reproduction of real birdsong we have ever heard! That loud chirping can be heard a few rooms down, but it always makes me smile knowing my face enjoys snuggling up to its bird toy and dreaming of the day when its bird friends return to us. Visit! This kept our kitten entertained for hours, and the scratching and biting decreased significantly while the snuggling and purring increased! 7) Time: Time, patience, perseverance, and LOTS OF CONSTANT LOVE and TRUST will help alleviate behavioral problems in an angry cat. We are very proud of our kitten, his behavior has improved a lot over time. They never resolved right away, but we knew not to trigger this behavior: don't put your hands in front of his face when his ears are rolled back -- be careful not to pick up the phone, as this will lead to sensory overload , let the kitten come kiss his forehead and keep your hands out of sight avoid loud noises or intimidating movements to startle him use Cool Kitty Cat Calming Pheromone Spray liberally and often in addition to everything else (especially at night before bed to avoid). biting face or head during sleep). Cool Kitty works MUCH better than Pet Organics No-Stress Cat Spray. Cool Kitty also has a very pleasant, unobtrusive scent that lingers for a long time; while Pet Organics has an extremely strong rosemary scent that causes nausea and doesn't work. The bottle itself doesn't spray the same or evenly compared to Cool Kitty; Instead, liquid droplets come out instead of a nice, even mist. Also, make sure the kitten has a full tummy. If the kitten is hungry, it will most likely attack. It can be done. Do not give up. It is worth fighting. It gets better. We can really appreciate our kitten and better understand him and his needs because of the struggles we had to go through due to the lack of socialization he received as a kitten.
