Update 4/11: If you're using the Smart Life app and go to the Smart tab, you can set up tap-to-run automation. I installed one to open the garage door and one to close the garage door. Then it can be done with one click and no need to press two buttons. ********** It took about an hour and most of the time I went through everything and made sure I knew what needed to be done before beginning the installation. I have multiple smart switches, plugs and lightbulbs controlled by the Smart Life app. After doing that, I proceeded to install the sensor and controller. In the first photo you can see that I screwed the sensor to the garage frame at the top of the door (I made sure the door didn't touch it when it was up). This replaced the dying keyboard (second time). I use the keypad every day because I ride my bike to work, so I don't have a car remote to open the door. I love that I'm notified when the door opens and closes and can check where I am on the door if necessary. I'm not using Alexa or Google integration.
