No disadvantages. There is nothing not to love. Waaaah better than the Ram X style mount. If you want a strong, secure and easy to use phone mount. Look no further. It doesn't interfere with controls, cameras, ports, cables, fingerprint readers, etc. Precision to the tightest CNC tolerances. The measured distance between wide open jaws is 3.25 inches or 82.6 mm. The actual hole is slightly larger, but you'll need to hire 2 people to use it for anything large that meets or exceeds that size. The spring is quite stiff at this maximum orifice size. The smallest size it's likely to hold is around 2.25 inches or 56.5mm. The jaws are contoured fairly deeply to hold all but the thickest of shells and are covered with thin quality rubber for security and better grip. Materials are anodized aluminum with stainless steel slide pins. Did I say quality? Even the bullet material is better than anything I've seen from Ram. I would trust this mount on any bike. However, I plan to use it in a truck.
