Review on PolyScience Culinary PSC-VBF-0812 Chamber Vacuum Bags, 8 by 12-Inch, Clear, Case of 250 - High-quality Vacuum Sealer Bags for Food Preservation by Megan Anderson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great bags but much more expensive than regular bags of similar quality.

I bought a Polyscience 300 chamber vacuum that came with a small selection of different sized bags that are compatible with the unit. The machine came with about 20 or 25 of each of the packages: pint (6x10), quart (8x12), and gallon (12x14). can affect the tightness of the packaging by 100%). I had no trouble sealing these packages. I even used these bags to seal a split bone in a medium seal chicken and the bones didn't pierce the bags. The pouches have a notch on the closed end for easier opening, simply tear open the pouch. I believe they are 3 mils thick. First, I ran out of small bags and bought some generic replacements online from a dedicated vacuum sealer site (3.5 cents a bag there versus 18 cents a bag here, although the minimum was 1,000). I found the universal cases to be only slightly inferior in quality to these and lacked a slight tear notch which was a bit annoying but the price difference was huge. In addition, normal bags were available in many other sizes. A NOTICE. They are designed for use with chamber vacuums (as opposed to "food-saving" vacuums that extract air and then seal it). Take care before you buy them and if you are using a camera other than the Polyscience 300, make sure the opening of these bags fits your sealing bar.
