I've learned not to like screen capture programs because they are unreliable. I wanted to use simple hardware under $100 and I wanted it to work standalone and record to an SD card. He didn't like my 64GB card, probably because it couldn't read exFAT, but when I inserted the 32GB card it worked like clockwork. Very easy. Click the button to start recording. Click again to stop. You get reliable 1080p recording. The maximum file size is 1.95GB, which is about 15 minutes at 1080p, so another file will be created if the recording exceeds this size. This is actually good for reliability and there shouldn't be any loss between files. I recorded audio through the microphone input for a test file. Here it is better to use HDMI. If you need to record a voiceover along with your recording and are concerned about the audio quality, I'd probably do it on another device better suited for audio recording, but it works. I'll try to update when I have more of these. ------ Update August 2021. It's still ongoing. I don't use it every day, but I record material when I need it, at the touch of a button. The only thing you CANNOT do is move the device or cables while it's running. let it be quiet Cables must be securely connected. good device.
