As Juan (previous commenter) said, the height of the base is NOT the same as the original thermostat for my 2007 G35 sedan. Thanks to Juan's info (warning) I also bought a few packs of stainless steel washers in case my experience repeats itself. And it happened. I ended up using five 1/16" washers to make up the height difference (0.3125"). This is the big difference between the two units and the reason why this item loses a star. Apart from the fact that the body size is extremely inaccurate, the device makes a pretty solid impression. Many websites and even parts retailers will indicate that a different design thermostat will be compatible with your engine. Although it matches the hole pattern, it is NOT compatible. The other thermostat has an extra water outlet (for another smaller diameter hose going to the oil cooler if I remember correctly). The water outlet thermostat is for the coupe, not for the sedan.
