High performance good price but not 802.3af

Good product but only 3 stars because the name is wrong. Why lie? Just say it powers 802.3af devices. The device easily delivers 15 watts, but it actually reaches 22 watts without any problems. This is mode B (pins 4 and 5 plus, 7 and 8 minus) and will power almost all 802.3af devices (maybe 98% will accept mode B) but only if all 4 pairs are connected to the cable. The device is NOT 802.3af compliant. This is a passive device - so if you accidentally plug a laptop or printer into a PoE port, it will be damaged. An 802.3af compliant device has built in protection - it will not deliver power unless the device connected to the PoE port is 802.3af compliant and cannot receive power without damage. The ground of the power cord is not connected to shielded RJ45 connectors - so don't worry about using shielded cables. So use it with care - and enjoy a good product at a good price. Most 802.3af devices don't even require 5W - so that shouldn't be a problem. Note. 802.3at devices are not properly powered because while this device can deliver 25W (more than advertised), there is no chip in it to tell the 802.3at device what power is available.
