Out of the box they look like no other paper straws I've tried. I leave a LARGE glass of water on the counter (with 1 tbsp unfiltered apple cider vinegar in it) and put a fresh straw in it every morning - it reminds me to drink 3 or 4 glasses a day. At the end of the first day I checked the bottom of the first straw and it had just started to soften. If I let it dry on the counter overnight I could use it the next day, but I wouldn't - I don't need yesterday's germs. They won't break down no matter how much you insult them. I bet they will be great with thick milkshakes. My grandson said he could play drums with them and they made good chopsticks. Worth the money and will buy again.
