My problem solved! at Brake Tools

My cruise control on my 2001 F-150 has failed. I ran the Ford diagnostics to determine that the problem may have been in my braking system. See the following URL to run a diagnostic test: [.] Your master cylinder has a sensor that will stop travel if you press the brake pedal, even if it's just a small push of the brakes. A touch switch in the master cylinder was part of a Ford recall in the early to mid-2000s. If you still have the original sensor, it's probably orange, like mine. The new sensor shown looks different and is not painted. Ford did not replace all of the sensors at the time of the recall unless they were leaking. I removed the wiring harness from my sensor and noticed that there was brake fluid in the wiring harness area. The sensor was indeed open and the cruise control would not engage due to a component failure. You will need to remove the old sensor with a socket wrench. Quickly screw in the new sensor. Before you begin, make sure your master cylinder is properly filled with brake fluid. I lost a very small amount of brake fluid when I removed the old sensor. I didn't have to bleed the brake system when I was done. The wiring harness that you receive in the kit connects to your new sensor and then to your truck's existing wiring harness. You will receive a cable tie with the new kit. I ended up using an extra zip tie to make sure the new wiring harness was secure. I restarted my truck to check the brakes. I drove my truck onto the freeway and cruise control was restored. This kit is relatively inexpensive and saved me hundreds of dollars when I took my truck to Ford for a cruise repair. I would recommend this kit to anyone who has had their cruise control failing and you have determined that your disable switch may be faulty.
