I have a 10 gallon tank. It filters well and heats up. I condition the water and add beneficial bacteria. I do a water change every two weeks and a full water change almost every month. I also have four different types of plants. I have a female betta and a female zebrafish (I had 3 zebrafish but the female betta killed her. She lived peacefully with the third zebrafish for a few weeks as the zebrafish is a very fast swimmer so the betta gave up. both are happy and healthy.) Okay, now that we have a little background, let me tell you about my experience with these slivered almonds. When I first received the package the leaves were perfectly formed and not too brittle. They have held their shape well. I put seven leaves in the tank. The package said 10 leaves per 12 gallons, but I have 10 gallons. My curious rooster immediately examined the leaves. She keeps trying to eat the stalk, possibly because it resembles her feeding pincer. My rooster was surfing in the jar because the plant in my aquarium was dying and went unnoticed. I bought these sheets to relieve stress from a previous ammonia spike. Immediately after adding the leaves I see a change in attitude, it becomes playful and relaxed. My zebrafish doesn't care, but I know it meant a lot to my betta. Initially, the leaves did not match the color of the advertised leaves. I wasn't overly concerned about what color they would be when they arrived, I was more concerned about their fragility considering they are dried leaves that come in the mail. As I said, they arrived safely and are in top form. After 8 hours of them still floating to the top I decided to flip them. Most of them sank within 30 seconds. The label on the box said I could use 20-30 sheets in a 12 gallon tank if a stronger color was desired. I have used these leaves for medicinal purposes. At first I thought adding too many leaves might be toxic. I'll remember that for the future. I did the last shot after 3 days with 10 gallon leaves. I can see the light color of the water and the leaves are now a bright reddish brown color. Excellent value for money and worth buying. I will buy again in the future. It's a shame that so many people weren't patient enough with the product. A lot of the reviews I saw here were that the leaves didn't match the color in the picture. your loss!
