We bought this item to hide our physical remotes from our little one who LOVES playing and changing channels with our remotes. Setup was easy as I already had an ORVIBO switch for one of my lamps. I remember the registration part was relatively easy. I had to manually log into my wifi on my phone to access my home hotspot and connect to the device on my phone. Try this if you have connection problems, and then run the setup again. The rest of the setup to connect to my home WiFi went smoothly. Make sure you go into the Cube settings and change your region to US, otherwise you won't see a list of devices or TV providers in English. Here's the thing: adding a remote control isn't very user-friendly. When you choose your brand for the device you want to control, it may only have SOME button functions. In my opinion, the BEST way to set up each remote is to select the setup option below when adding a remote. Pre-programmed remotes do not allow you to ADD features or relearn features. You're pretty stuck the way it is. Therefore, I would recommend doing away with the pre-programmed remotes altogether and just setting them up. About Customization: This cube allows you to use your REAL remote to learn any button on your phone and you can add custom buttons for any function on your remote. . That's easy. You press a button on the phone you want to teach and then on the real remote control. You have about 15 seconds to do this. If successful, it will return to the button screen on your phone. I made this for my Direct TV remote because none of the 65 pre-programmed remotes matched ALL the functions on my remote. Caveat: In order to program some remotes into the Cube, you must disable your physical remotes from "RF". Settings and change it to "IR" to make the box detect your remote control. The Cube DOES NOT WORK with RF remote controls. Most new remotes can sometimes be set to "RF". My Samsung TV had this as did my Direct TV remote and I had to switch the signal to IR for it to learn. I'm a techie so I figured it out pretty quickly. My only complaint is that you can't set up your own remote template on the main remote screen. You CAN do this as soon as you hit the "dot" button on the secondary screens, but being able to add button options to the home screen would make this little box AWESOME! Oh, and it's Alexa/Google compatible but after playing with it it's pretty much useless to me unless you're SUPER lazy or your phone is across the room OR you have a kid that waking up screaming five times for Alexa/Google to get it right. I've tried to explain all the problems I've had here. Hope this helps someone. Again, this is a great device that does exactly what it's supposed to do.
