Review on TRENDnet TEG-30284: 28-Port Web Smart Switch with πŸ”€ Gigabit Ports, 10G SFP+ Slots, and High-Speed Network Uplinks by Craig Sethuraman

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good switch. Might be easier to set up.

This is a good switch, but unless you're a network administrator you'll have to spend a lot of time searching the web to figure out how to set it up. The instructions are good for most basic tasks, but they don't explain many of the networking concepts and initialisms you need to understand to figure out how to set it up. I'm a techie with a little understanding of network protocols and it took me 2 tries (I eventually had to reset) and about 2 hours to set up the switch to split ports between two networks and download. And yes, the interface is a bit clunky. To do this, I had to explicitly set each port to every other port in the web interface (i.e. check the box for all odd-numbered ports on port 1 and click save. Repeat 28 times.)

Pros
  • TRENDnet LIFETIME PROTECTION: All TRENDnet metal switches are backed by TRENDnet's lifetime manufacturer's warranty.
Cons
  • Band
