Wider than most children's shoes
My 18 month old son has trouble wearing shoes. His left ankle was swollen compared to his right (birthmark defect). In all the shoes I've worn him in so far the straps are too short and never with velcro because of his bad big ankle. I ordered these shoes and they fit perfectly and the velcro is adjustable to ensure they fit small or large toddler feet.
