Works right out of the box, comes with a drill bit great for drilling precise holes in wood. Tips: Place a piece of masking tape over the center drawer. Use a tape measure to find the center of the top of the drawer and mark it on the tape. Center the template on the mark - it will rest on top of the drawer and hang in front of the drawer. Use the template holes to mark the spots that will match your drawer handle. I had Menard's 3" rods and the pre-drilled holes in the template matched exactly. For cabinet handles you use a long narrow template. In this case I had to drill a hole in the template right where I did.
