I bought this TPI Hot Anemometer/Air Velocity Meter a few years ago and it seems to be holding up well. In my opinion, it has many good qualities for a mid-range device. It came with a rubber boot and a decent nylon storage bag, along with the 6 AAA batteries it uses. The device has an automatic switch-off and displays degrees C or F in the temperature range from -5F to 175F and air speeds from 0.2 m/s to 20 m/s. It can be set to display m/s, km/s, ft/min, knots or mph, but it does not display CFM directly so the readings must be converted using the formula in the manual. It features data logging and a 3.5mm RS232 serial output for printing and viewing readings on a computer, but the RS232 cable itself is not included. The tip of the remote temperature sensor on this unit is approximately 3/8" in diameter and the sensor is permanently connected to a wire giving the sensor an overall length of approximately 10,000 channels. TPI recommends recalibrating the meter once a year, so it needs to be sent to their service center for this.Overall this counter seems to be well made and hasn't given me any problems so far so I wouldn't have a problem with the recommendation.
