Review on πŸ€– Freenove Hexapod Robot Kit with Remote Control for Arduino IDE: App-Controlled Walking, Crawling, and Twisting Servo STEM Project by Andres Callahan

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works great with 2s Lipo easy mod

Loved the clear instructions but skimmed them and forgot to slide the flash onto the controller. I also liked the software loaded on my Linux laptop as well as my Windows machine with no issues. Overall a simple build and a really well designed kit that looks good when assembled. I didn't like the standard battery installation and battery desoldering, and using a 550mah 2s lipo with an XT30 connector works great. I didn't want to worry about a new charger and other things with standard lipos. I tried my favorite phone app and computer control but I think I fried my NRF24L modules by plugging them into the wrong connector. So I haven't gotten my remote to work yet. So I've ordered a few more modules, they're very cheap and I'm waiting for them to arrive. I didn't feel entitled to complain about this as it was my own fault for being in a hurry and they only handle 3 volts max. The hexapod moves a little slowly, but for 9g servos it's about what I expected. Battery life with a 550mAh battery is around 17-20 minutes. I initially went with the 1600mAh battery because I expected smaller ones from Revain and the battery life was insanely long, at least 35 minutes or more. Looking forward to playing around with the code, adding some LEDs, etc.
