Review on πŸ”Œ Logitech Combo Touch Keyboard Case for iPad (7th, 8th, and 9th Gen) - Trackpad, Wireless Keyboard, Smart Connector - Graphite by Deejay Devarashetty

Revainrating 4 out of 5

So close, but misses the mark in several areas.

I was hoping this would be a game changer for the iPad, but a few things are still missing. I'm using this on a 7th gen iPad, not a Pro model. I use my iPad for work as we have an app which is a big part of our business infrastructure. This means that the iPad has to type and report a lot. It's also handy to have Word and Excel support with OneDrive. Excel is a definite win with the touchpad, just like typing, since a touchpad-controlled cursor makes inserting a cursor much easier. This has significantly improved text editing and the creation of real documents. Out of about 6 iPad keyboards I've had over the years, this one from Logitech doesn't have the best key feel, but it's a lot more expensive (like 5x) than other models with better keystrokes. After a week of typing, I'm still not typing as well as on other iPad keyboards, which is disappointing given the price. I love the style of the case and as I work in construction more protection is good, I carry this iPad with me for thousands of miles and numerous jobs so good solid protection is good because I'm not always an iPad kid many other. The defense is very good in this case, but she is fierce. This is by no means a thin, unobtrusive case. I'm not a big fan of the iPad stand, it works but takes up quite a bit of space and more or less requires a table to sit on. It doesn't work on your lap like some other iPad keyboards. Finally, the main problem, and this is not related to the Logitech keyboard itself, but to the current Apple keyboard and touchpad software on iOS. The touchpad can be sluggish at times, scrolling can be tedious, cursor speed is awkward at times, and while the cursor in general certainly wins in applications like Excel, I still have to use the touchscreen, or even prefer it over the touchpad. Sometimes I have to disconnect and reconnect the keyboard to the iPad, to make it work. This is by no means a big problem, but there is a problem. Maybe it's Apple's fault, but I can't confirm it. Given the lack of key feel and the slightly awkward stand, I'll give it a 4 out of 5. It's as close to the touchpad and keyboard combo I've always dreamed of. I give Apple a 3 out of 5 for touchpad integration in iOS 13.5. Hopefully Apple will make improvements soon. I give Apple a 3 out of 5 for touchpad integration in iOS 13.5.
