This bookcase looks great and has a very aesthetic design; However, fixing it to the wall is absolutely necessary as it is not very reliable in itself. It comes with hardware for wall mounting (two drywall screws, two bookshelf mounting screws, two hinges and a zip tie), but wall mounting requires the use of those. Without additional support, this bookshelf becomes very wobbly and unsteady even before you add anything. I would not recommend using this bookshelf without securing it first. The assembly is very simple; only three different pieces. I would recommend using a Phillips electric drill for faster construction. The kit includes additional parts and stickers to hide the hardware. Items are packed very tightly and delivered without damage. You have the option to place as many tiers of the shelf as you like as it has the same design with each tier and the stickers cover the hardware. Overall this is a nice shelf that has many uses, lots of space. which can be reduced if necessary and is very attractive in design. I gave it four stars instead of five because it's very unstable without a wall mount, so it's not as easy to move after the fact as it would be if it were mounted alone. However, I like the look and functionality of this shelf.
