Review on πŸ”§ Dernord Stainless Steel Threaded Cleaning Pattern by Michael Hughes

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very well built but it needs a strong pump to work

This thing appears to be very well built including solid stainless steel and roller bearings inside so it feels turns very smoothly. I tried using this with the fountain pump that came with Mark's keg washer, but the pump just didn't have enough pressure to spin it very well. It spins and "coats" the inside of the keg or fermenter with a cleaning solution, but it doesn't really have enough power to "scrape" the solids. I will buy a more powerful pump and update this review once I have a satisfactory solution. UPDATE: I bought a 1/3 HP submersible pump. and wow, the difference is amazing. Combined with a large pump, this CIP spray ball really creates a spray. I sat in the driveway and checked both pumps. Using a Marks Keg Washer pump it sprayed about 2-3 feet easily. With a large pump, it produces powerful spray up to 8-9 feet. Here is the pump I purchased: Superior 91330 1/3 HP Pump Thermoplastic Submersible Pump It took a lot of effort to find all the adapters to change the 1-1/4" NPT fitting on the pump to 1/2 "NPT on this reduce ball. But it was worth it. I think you can probably get away with a 1/4 or 1/5 hp version of this pump, but a 1/3 hp pump. ideal for cleaning ordinary kegs and fermenters.
