Hard shell and has 16 different colors. Comes with a remote and can recharge by USB port. Although length of charge won’t last a whole night or a party. So I’d recommend if you wanted to make sure it was on longer than 3 or 4 hours I’d just leave the USB port plugged in. Has three dim modes which I liked. Great for a night light or accent by a pool or patio bar. Definitely recommended
