I will say that on ice and packed snow they work as they should. What makes them 3 stars is all the rocks in your tread wear through the fabric very quickly, although I've never been on sidewalks, some holes formed within 20 miles of use. I don't remember the warning about it, but if it was there I missed it. Putting them on is much easier than taking them off. You must have enough space for your hand between the car tire and the fender to get it on the tires. After putting them on 3/4 hoops, move forward and finish. The first time lasted 4 minutes and the other 3 less than 2 minutes. Now removing them is a different story. They fill up with firm snow in places, making the landing even tighter, and if you think you can just change the procedure to take them off, you're wrong. You need to reach around the cover by pulling the back edge up towards the tread, pull the strap to pull it partially over the tread, you repeat this for about half the tire, then the car forward move and pull the other half in the same way. but then it comes loose when you get in the car and move it forward again to remove the first half of the cover you've pulled partially over the tread. Once I figured it out, removing each of them takes about 4 minutes. There's a warning not to park with them overnight as they can freeze to the ground, which would be true, but they don't tell you they'll freeze to the tire and that might also be why the take off is so was difficult. Even with the holes they have, they're still good and I'll use them as needed, but it's not as practical as it might seem. The whole reason for the purchase was not to buy winter tires for 3-10 days out of winter when things are going bad and 20 disc chains don't fit my car.
