A well made and superb product - IF installed correctly. There are a few important details to keep in mind when building this stem or you could either ruin the stem permanently or just end up with an expensive hard stem. There is a video on the network on how to properly install the product, which I recommend that all new owners watch. Before changing the elastomers, you must first mount the stem to the bike so you can apply some pressure to the stem to properly install the jackbolt that holds the elastomers in place. Otherwise the thread may twist and the shank may be destroyed. Second, whether you tilt the stem up or down, the elastomers must be installed in one or both of the UPPER CHAMBERS, NOT ONE OR BOTH LOWER CHAMBERS since the stem is column mounted. . With the elastomers mounted on the lower chamber(s), the stem doesn't flex at all and feels the same as a rigid stem with no dampening properties. Properly mounted on the top chamber, the stem pivot flexes properly and smoothes the ride beautifully. As for choosing the right elastomer(s) for your drop bar bike, you can also start with the recommendation in your owner's manual - IF YOU RIDE HOODIES. If you mostly ride flat bars I suggest you follow the recommendations in the flat bar bike guide as you will want to choose a softer elastomer as any choice of elastomer will flex the stem more when you hold it. Hoods, as opposed to your drop bar flats, due to the increased leverage.
