Cast iron on the one I got. Good enough for the price
Many people have pointed out that this is cast aluminum, the one I received is cast iron as can be seen from the magnet I stuck to it in my drawing. Rough block surface, but the seal surface is smooth. Terribly poor packaging from Revain to put this in a paper bag mailbox as it weighs about 2lbs and the box has been torn. The seal broke into several pieces, but I plan on using the o-ring anyway.
