Review on Flowmaster 53056 50 Series Muffler - 3-Inch Inlet, SUV/Performance Vehicle, Center Outlet by Jay Campbell

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Throw away this OEM. That sounds right now! (2016 F-150 V8 5.0)

Worked great on a new 2016 Ford F150 5.0 V8 that sounded like an old grandpa's Crown Vic. I didn't want to go back yet after spending a bunch of money a few days ago. And now I really don't think I will. I called Flowmaster Tech Support and this was the closest match we found to be the best replacement for my truck's OEM muffler, which is 3.0" at the inlet and 3.0" offset on the same side as the original. Of course, this Flowmaster 53056 muffler is offset in and out of center and a few inches shorter. I decided to take it to my local muffler shop instead of trying to fight a replacement and just welded it together and got it right. It took him about 30 minutes and a small 3 inch whistle and coat hanger, it was ready in less than a hundred. I'm sure it could have been done cheaper. It's difficult to explain the sound in words, but I'll try to express it here. ! Now it sounds like a truck. With a noticeable change compared to stock. I was worried it wouldn't be like the OEM, but the noise level is deep, low and smooth. I've had a Dodge Viper, a Roush Mustang, a couple of nice rides that sounded great straight from the factory for the past few years. It's in the same vein, factory muscle car sound that won't drive you crazy if you do. drives down the boulevard but wakes up noticeably and hoarse when sitting down. Perfect!
