Much easier to use, like old gas cartridges. This fits in my 5 gallon Midwest can; The hole in the can is 1 ⅝ inch in diameter. It's the same size as my can of Blitz; However, the Blitz glass has a shorter neck, so the spout doesn't fit well and there is some spillage when pouring into the tank. (I don't use it on my Blitz can, just tried it for more info - luckily I don't need it for my Blitz can because it has a great spout that you just take off the lid and pour out). I would add that other new gas cartridges I have that have numerous "safety features" on the spout designed specifically for that cartridge often leak or spill far more than this product did on my flash. In fact, I bought this specifically to replace the unsafe "safety" spout on my new Midwest can. One caveat: the spout is very flexible, which can be an advantage; but when filling the tank it will leak (even in the Midwest it can be) if at least some of the cylinder's weight is resting on the spout. Many of the "new" spouts are rigid, so the weight of the tank is actually needed when the spout is on the outside of the gas tank. It has a plastic disk covering the opening (which goes over the neck of the glass, under the bottom of the spout) to keep out debris and air, and a cap covering the end of the spout to keep dirt out. at the top (it's relatively loose but perfect for storage as the disc protects the contents of the jar).
