Review on πŸ”© JessEm Jig 8350 with 3/8 inch Guide Bushings, Drill Bit, Stop Collar & Pin by Cody Johnson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Expensive but worth it.

I had to upgrade my dowel driver for years. Before that I used a very basic Bench Dog mount that worked great but was limited to only drilling two holes before repositioning and only 3/8" from the board surface (ideal for the typical 3/4). " floor). I bought a JessEm jig to provide different offsets for working with different thickness materials. Unlike a self-centering jig, JessEm lets you adjust offset, not just center. The quality of the device is excellent, which is what I expected considering the price. I've used a jig that flexes and wobbles when working with denser wood but never had a problem with it. It's heavy and thick and I can't imagine how much force it would take to break or bend it. the 3/8" drill seems to be pretty soft steel; it was very sharp at first but didn't stay that long. but it doesn't bother me. lots of good stuff already. Overall I feel the JessEm is a bit overpriced but it is a small price to pay for not swearing at work.

Pros
  • great product
