Not just for parking mode

I recently bought two Garmin 55s and a wiring harness for two parking modes. The camera is good for its small size and functionality. I didn't want the cord to go down and plug into the cigarette lighter, even if the cord is long enough to hide in the headliner and molding. If you take the trouble, you can also make it seamless and hard-wire it to the under-steering fuse box. There are some good videos on Youtube and for the first time the installation was easier than I thought. The two things you should buy from an auto parts store (about $8 each if they have extra fuses and about $6 if they don't) are two fuse installation adapters - make sure you get the right size ones add a backup adapter. since one car had low profile fuses and the other didn't. Because the wire end of the wire harness is a bare wire and you need to crimp it into an adapter to connect to the fuse box. Each adapter has two slots (use 10A for battery and auxiliary cable) so it has two fuses to accommodate the DVR and whatever was initially powered. This third wire is grounded and does not require an adapter. Once you have it set up and running, it works seamlessly and you don't have to do anything when you start the car. It has a legal notice that pops up asking "Agree" every time, but you don't need to press any button as it will disappear after about 10-15 seconds. In fact, you probably shouldn't touch this little camera every time because it's very easy to accidentally change the aiming point. About the parking mode. It's motion activated and I deactivated it when I got back to my car one day and had 17 videos saved in parking mode. Apparently, a slight and distant movement causes an activation. However, the parking mode wiring is just what I needed to keep the console from cluttering up, and I don't even notice the camera barely peeking out from under my rearview mirror.
