Second Times-a-Charm

The first block died so I sent it back. But the second block works fine. I didn't need the park mode so I soldered the 12v and ACC wires and connected that pair to a faucet and connected it to the windshield wiper connector. Went like clockwork. By the way, if you love parking mode, don't forget to turn it off in camera, otherwise it will drain your camera's battery.

I would still go with Garmin even if it's not included.

I think it works as advertised. You can change the voltage cutoff by opening it up and manually adjusting it with a toggle switch. I left 2 cameras (66w and mini) in my pickup in parking mode for 5 days with no noticeable impact on the battery level. As many have said, it's annoying that they don't include one, but the cameras are some of the most compact and premium DVRs on the market. I'm a bit disappointed that they aren't using USB-C in products like the 66W yet. Let's hope the premium…

Works as expected for GPS, finder and accessories

Device works as expected. I was surprised that there were no connectors (Fuse Taps) in the package. Also NO detailed instructions. I had to go online to get instructions. I do not like that. The product is expensive and should at least contain all the necessary connections and instructions. I went to YouTube and found that you can increase the voltage that will turn off the dashcam before the car battery dies. I never found anything about this on Garmin, maybe I missed it, but thought it should

Nice addition to a Garmin camera.

Rated 3 stars for installation as moderate skill required for smooth (clean) installation. I'll give 5 if you don't care about open wiring. The instructions are great with a simple diagram that anyone can understand. But hiding the wiring through the headliner is nice, and it might not be something everyone can easily do. After installation it works great. Activation is impressive, especially at night. I'm watching a parked video and the camera starts filming when the traffic is 180 feet. I…

Hidden way to install a Garmin DVR

I bought this cable for a Garmin Mini 2 DVR. I didn't like the idea of plugging it into an outlet on the console while the power cord is visible. The USB connector routes the cable upwards so it can be hidden between the windshield and headliner. It was easy to "cleanly" remove the panel on the driver's side A-pillar and route the cable under the dash. Installation Note: My car is a 2002 Acura RSX, it was necessary to run a cable under the dash to the camera. Location due to the junction box on

Bad software makes this cable obsolete.

Cable that works as described. only to be let down by Garmin's own software. You see "Parking Mode Videos" are placed in their own folder on the SD card. These videos are NOT part of the removal cycle. So what does that mean you ask? Well, what SHOULD HAPPEN is that when your SD card is full, your dash cam will push the oldest video off the end to make room for the new one. Rinse and repeat. standard material. However, the Garmin software DOES NOT DELETE the parking video, ONLY the driving…

Not just for parking mode

I recently bought two Garmin 55s and a wiring harness for two parking modes. The camera is good for its small size and functionality. I didn't want the cord to go down and plug into the cigarette lighter, even if the cord is long enough to hide in the headliner and molding. If you take the trouble, you can also make it seamless and hard-wire it to the under-steering fuse box. There are some good videos on Youtube and for the first time the installation was easier than I thought. The two things…

It works . . . BUT - Chargers and Cables

I've been using this Dash Cam for about a week as of this writing. While this camera has some interesting bells and whistles, there are some improvements that Garmin really needs to explore and improve upon to give consumers better fine-tuning on the spot. Issue #1 - Lane Departure Warning: The current algorithm used by Garmin needs to be updated. On a dual carriageway, it kept pointing to a lane exit when there was no exit. The warnings have actually turned into a distracting driving…
