UPDATE: After compressing the bumper and securing it with locking pliers, I finally have the clearance I needed to thread the nuts back onto the bumper studs and complete the installation. Now everything seems to be ok. I was trying to install this on my brand new 2019 Bighorn Edition RAM (new style) which is what this step should do. The instructions are written by the same people who write the instructions for IKEA, so they're practically useless. I got to the point where I had to remove the nuts from my truck's bumper, then replace the nuts and retighten, only to find that the bolts on the truck's bumper were TOO SHORT to hold the bumper. I don't see where I could have done anything wrong - the thickness of the bracket just doesn't allow the bumper nuts to go back onto their respective bolts. At this point I'm not sure if I can loosen the bumper bolts - I've tapped them with a hammer but they don't seem to move. I'll try a bit more to see if I can replace those screws with something a little longer.
