I have bought 9 of these motion detectors in the last year for use in a home security system. Based on my personal experience and online research I've done, these are the best Zwave plus motion detectors in this price range to connect to Smartthings. However, there is a dark streak around this silver cloud. In my experience, the proportion of these devices is above the norm. Of the 9 units I bought, 2 overheated making them prone to false alarms and unsuitable for use in my security system. In one instance, I replaced a "hot" sensor (which frequently produced false positives) with one of my other identical sensors and my false positives stopped immediately. I know it's possible to reduce the sensitivity of these devices and I honestly haven't tested this option because I'm having an issue with my security system desensitizing due to poor sensor calibration. and when other identical units work normally. Finally, good luck if you have a defective sensor to get warranty service. I've been trying for weeks to contact them myself and also through Revain but neither of us could find the manufacturer's contact information. There is also no information in their manual about obtaining warranty service. My advice is therefore that although it is worth buying them because they are probably the best device on the market and the price is good, consider that a higher percentage than usual will run "hot" and use them for the security system can make unsatisfactory . Use due to false alarms. If you need to replace one, I don't give you a good chance of going through the warranty either. I hope you have better luck than me, but you will most likely eat up the cost as warranty service is nowhere to be found.
