I've tried all sorts of woodcarving methods, from a whole host of homemade solutions to using store-bought woodcarving boxes. The Beal system is simply the best solution for making wood carvings. If you're using a faucet box, cut strings with a blade, and no matter how many precautions you take, I always try to get lots of shavings on the strings. Of course, chips will not affect the work of wood carving, but it will not look beautiful and not professional. Threading a router with a Beal template produces the cleanest threads with the least amount of chips. Highly recommended if you're doing projects that use wood threads as design elements.
