I bought this modem to replace the modem provided by AT&T/Bellsouth. The original modem died during a thunderstorm, but the new modem now has a surge protector on the phone line, so hopefully it won't happen again. The modem connected normally after I entered the DSL password. Luckily I saved this as you have to go to the AT&T website to get it. I didn't use the installation CD, just opened the web admin and configured from there. So far no connection problems. My connection is 6 Mbps and the speedtest websites show 5.5 Mbps so I think it's reasonable.
