If you're like me, do your due diligence before you buy anything and I did with these portables 12 volt tire blowers and air compressors. After much reading, I finally decided on two products. Here are the criteria I found necessary and why I chose this Slime 40026 over another product I was considering, the Viair 88P .1. The device must be powered by a car battery and NOT a cigarette lighter socket. Smaller gas generators/compressors are powered by the cigarette lighter but still require a lot of current (15 A or more). This could potentially blow your car's accessory fuse and cause more headaches than it solves. The direct connection to the battery ensures that the gas generator/compressor gets the power it needs and the fuses do not blow. [TIE].2. I need a supercharger/supercharger that runs fast, I don't want to sit around waiting for a tire to inflate. Both models are rated at approximately 1.9 cfm. In the real world, it took 30 seconds to add 10psi to each of my 17-inch sporty tires (245/40R17) that were a little undersized. [TIE].3. Should be portable and easy to store in my small car. . [SLIME WIN: Only Slime comes with a carrying case and has a handle on the device, ViAir 88p does not have a carrying case or handle]. 4. Must be reliable. I will leave it folded. my trunk for emergencies and tire maintenance. Whether it really matters or not, it makes sense. Slime has two cylinders while ViAir has only a single cylinder.) Slime and ViAir have almost the same specifications when it comes to performance and it is extremely difficult to decide between the two easy The Slime has a carrying handle, a storage box and a spiral hose, all working together to get the job done. but then also packed well and tightly so that it can be stored. Another small charm that the Slime has but not the ViAir is the LED light that helps illuminate the work area. This is very important as you don't always have a well-lit workspace. That's why I bought the Slime, now here's what I think of how well the device actually works; +++ BENEFITS ++++ WORK FAST+ TWISTABLE BUS CONNECTOR+ CARRY HANDLE+ HOSE IN ROLL --- CONS ---- SMALL BATTERY TERMINALS- BAD TO READ TIRE SENSOR- Fragile housing *** DETAILS AND FINAL *** While these inflators/compressors seem great for the Be able to inflate tires and have built-in tire pressure sensors. I don't care much about the accuracy of the sensors. The tire pressure gauge is most accurate in the mid-range and the one that comes with the Slime reads from 0 to 150psi, so it's most accurate in the 75psi range, which doesn't help me with my car tires that are about 35psi inflated! So I also bought an Intercomp tire gauge (highly rated by Consumer Reports) along with an inflator. Known for its accuracy, it has a HUGE easy to read 4 inch glow-in-the-dark display and a 0-60psi range, so its accuracy is right where I need it. I changed my inventory. Tires on my car with 17" summer sport tires, size 245/40r17. I checked the pressure and they all showed 24 psi (give or take psi per wheel). I wish they were 35 psi. I connected the battery cables ( first red then black as suggested), twisted the hose to the passenger bike and turned on the switch, waited about 30 seconds then turned off, I checked the pressure with Intercomp and it reads pretty much 35psi, great repeat the process on the Rear passenger wheel and get the same result Repeat for the other tires and I'm done Using a small portable pump added 10psi to all 4 wheels in less than 5 minutes, not bad at all After the last tire was removed I checked that Device for heat and it was pretty damn cool although the hose it connects to the device was quite hot (almost too hot to touch and hold) After that everything comes zie It's pretty easy to put back in and I stuff it in the passenger side legroom (until I get a proper trunk organizer so it doesn't fly all over the trunk) and it fits in there with no problem (which is a testament to how much this compact device packs). Due to my small car (Scion FR-S) I don't doubt I would get the same performance and results from the ViAir 88p but it wouldn't pack as light and compact as the Slime It's a great little device that I highly recommend.
