Review on Optimized Search: AmazonBasics 4ft Digital Audio Coaxial Cable by Jay Jeong

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Less than reliable

These cables appear to be very good and always work here at the store, but one of the 15 foot cables broke intermittently at the customer's site resulting in several hours of wasted phone support, by tracking it. Disassembled one and found a good quality center conductor that appears to be 26 gauge with 19 strands. The strain relief seems more than adequate, and the cable I tested handles a tremendous amount of pull and pull. Obviously the cables are soldered by hand so there is a chance of operator error prior to the casting process. Due to the use of hand soldering I would assume the mold placement is also done by hand which is another possibility of damage. FWIW, the shielding is sparse - I'd say no more than 70% coverage - so there may be some electromagnetic radiation that can be picked up by other nearby devices. This also means that they cannot be used as analogue cables. I recommend stressing them out by checking their conductivity before sending them into the field.

Pros
  • RUGGED CONSTRUCTION: durable, flexible PVC jacket; minimal power loss and RFI/EMI protection
Cons
  • Disappear
