Decent head unit / good value for money

Good: A significant upgrade from the stock head unit on my 2008 Jetta, although I had to sacrifice a Sirius XM radio. The display is visible during the day and reacts to touch. Nice that there is a way to download apps from the Google Play Store. The sound quality is good. Ability to customize the home screen. The home screen is simple but beautiful. Good instruction manual. OK: The Bluetooth voice quality is OK. Charges in a minute, like a phone. The bad: The first elements really hit Android head units in general. AM reception is terrible, but who listens to AM. The clock is reset to UTC on every power cycle. EasyConnection/Mirror Link is useless but depends on the software developer. Instead, I got a USB dongle for CarPlay and Android Auto. Specific to this device: There is no installation guide. Installation: There are no instructions and the user manual says to use a professional installer. All cables are labeled and installation is easy once you know the trick I'm going to explain. The wiring harness has a red wire labeled ACC that is split in half by metal connectors for connecting the wire. Do not connect the wire. If you do this, the radio will have continuous power from the battery, even when the car is off and the key removed. But don't leave the red ACC wire as it is either. Use electrical tape to carefully cover the metal connections. You may accidentally touch yourself when you plug all the cables back into the dashboard. This may cause the car computer to generate an error code and stop powering the main unit. And then you need someone with a scanner to find the code and clean it up.
