The thermometer shows the actual temperature within 2-3 seconds, which is important. I bought and threw away a slightly cheaper thermometer from Revain that reads 30-45 seconds. This is unacceptable under any circumstances, especially if you're grilling a dozen pieces of chicken. As you can see in the picture, I compared readings from a very accurate commercial thermocouple and a meter. This meat thermometer was off by just 2 degrees Fahrenheit (or 1%), which is not bad for a budget device. And when checking when the meat is done, it's safer to read 1% less than more.
