So should NOT be listed as a candy thermometer! After an unsuccessful batch of peanut brittle I come back and see the instructions only say up to 212 degrees! 😡 and I had to get to 305 degrees, which is the stage of a hard crack. I'm sure this is a great meat thermometer, but don't worry if you're making candy, which they clearly claim, BUT NOT! Wasted time and a whole load of peanut slices!

Bought it and it worked great the first two times. Pulled it out to use a third time and it wouldn't turn on. Thinking it might just be the battery I bought more. Tried multiple batteries, still won't turn on. I emailed support twice asking if there was anything I could do, but there was no response for several weeks. If I could get a simple answer I wouldn't feel the need to write a bad review.

The thermometer was easy to use and read and appeared to be fairly accurate. We used it to measure the temperature of grilled meat, so the length was particularly helpful. However, be careful with it near the water. When I cleaned it by hand, water got on the handle. I never submerged it in water (as I know the thermometer doesn't claim to be waterproof) but water still got into the digital display part and it stopped working.

**Update** Aug 2021 Mines still work and I still love it! It stays in my fridge and I always turn it off after each use and poke the probe, not the pen. Remember that it is set to C when you turn it on. Americans use F, click on it to get the correct value. September 2020 is drastic so be careful. It has a magnet on the back which is great because I attached it to the side of my Foodi. It's set to C, so you'll have to press for F. Easy to read.

The thermometer shows the actual temperature within 2-3 seconds, which is important. I bought and threw away a slightly cheaper thermometer from Revain that reads 30-45 seconds. This is unacceptable under any circumstances, especially if you're grilling a dozen pieces of chicken. As you can see in the picture, I compared readings from a very accurate commercial thermocouple and a meter. First of all, this thermometer is pretty damn accurate. Holds up well to the abuse I've put it through. I use it on the grill 4-5 times a week and my girlfriend uses it a lot more. First, the accuracy of this device is exceptional: within 0.2 degrees Fahrenheit of a standard mercury thermometer. Second, easy to read and easy to use. A good long stick to keep your hand away from hot food and kitchen surfaces.
