I saved $400!: Motors

The sliding passenger side door with automatic lock/unlock on my 2006 Grand Caravan stopped working. This meant that when the door was locked, the door could not be opened with the automatic opening function, neither with the remote control nor with the buttons. The Dodge dealer said they would have to replace the entire latch mechanism for about $290 plus labor, which is about $400. General! By reading online and using a voltmeter we determined that it was simply the motor in the lock actuator (the motor that is housed in this product) that was faulty. Only replaced the motor ($3 part) but it required the drive train to break and ended up ruining some of the gears. Worked for about a month, then stopped working. We were ready to find a landfill, but then we found this product at Revain. Exactly what we needed! Easy replacement by removing the inner door panel, disconnecting the latch lever, removing the entire latch mechanism (you will need special drive bits), disconnecting the cable, removing a screw to loosen the drive and replacing with a new drive. Make sure the locking lever is back on track. The hardest part was getting the interior trim back. This part also came with a "white" toggle switch - I think for the left sliding door as it looked like a mirror image. What we installed on the actuator was what we needed for the right side, so we didn't have to replace it with a white switch.
