This review is for the KEEN Men's Nxis Speed Low Height Vented Hiking Shoe (10, Canteen/Brindle). Love these shoes for multiple reasons. They look fantastic from an overall design, multiple shades of color, and style perspectives. It doesn’t matter if it’s hiking clothes or casual jeans, this look really nice. They are fairly light-weight at around 1.6 pounds total, with a comfortable ankle collar and cushy foot bed for those long hikes. The protective toe box is a plus, and the outer mesh layer helps keep your feet airy and cool, as well as contribute to the light-weight feature of the shoe. But this mesh layer also means it isn’t going to be as rugged and durable as other KEEN shoe styles. It’s fantastic for casual hikes, but probably not the best option for climbing/traversing over rugged terrain, or in rainy conditions. You just need to determine your primary use case purposes. The biggest disappointment I had with these were the fit from a length perspective. I have worn A LOT of KEEN shoes, and have always loved wearing them, almost on a daily basis. The fit has always been fantastic, especially with the generous width in the toe box area that is typical of any KEEN shoe, including these. But this is the first pair I have worn that has this type of reinforced toe box at the end, and for the very first time for me, a pair of KEEN shoes actually felt a half size too small. I double-checked, and I did order the size I always have for KEEN, so there must be something about this particular toe box design and the material used. My toe was crammed all the way to the end and rubbing with an uncomfortable amount of friction. So, going forward, I now know for this particular type of KEEN toe design, I need to go up a half-size.I do really like these shoes, and am a huge fan of KEEN products for their quality, functionality, and style. But I do think these run a half-size smaller than most of their other styles.
