Not all 'spikes' used to hold the device are bent and can catch fingers and hands if not careful. I took the pliers and squeezed them until they popped out and protruded. Some of the spikes (for lack of a better term) don't protrude, so obviously they weren't designed to protrude. It's the lack of quality or quality control of these two units. After going back and forth with these two practice holes, I probably won't be buying them again. They just aren't as fun or difficult to use around the house after about 30 minutes.
