Excellent Value Sharpening Stones

This is a great sharpening stone. I needed this to polish my katana and it worked great. I also use it to sharpen kitchen knives and santoku knives. Not a very hard stone but rather soft and thin which lends itself well to honing. The two sides of the grain will show wobble in the middle, causing different grains to mix. Since it's in the middle it doesn't matter, but this is the first time I've seen it. I have a different combo stone but it is much harder, rougher and has a perfectly aligned center which I am used to. All in all a great purchase and I am very satisfied. Update: I bought a second one and it's a different grit. The first was 400/600, this one is 120/240. It's too coarse for sharpening knives. Whetstones that cost $15-20 are overpriced. Maybe $8 for a good kitchen stone, but no more. Revain sellers seem to scam buyers by inflating the price or adding gimmicks like holders. I hit the buy button again when my old one wore out. It was dirty from sword sharpening and I needed something cleaner for my kitchen knives. I feel tricked and turned on. This is not the same product that I have previously purchased. This stone removes too much metal and leaves scratches on the surface. Honestly, when companies and online marketplaces get a reputation for shady practices, it's usually a sign of bad governance. I don't think Revain will last much longer as the products keep increasing in price. Also, I don't think it's fair to mortgage expensive sharpening systems and oils when a cheap 600 grit stone works great. The incredibly high granularity of the stones seems to be aimed at the naive rich. This is not the reliable standard quality that I am used to from supermarkets.
