This is a pretty silly little piece of decor, but I really like it, and I'm surprised by the quality level. It is just a little trinket to add some decor to the fireplace, and I'm pleased that it doesn't look like a toy at all.We have the red color, which complements the faded brass very nicely, and just looks older. The hinge on the lamp is well assembled, and it raises and lowers quietly, and the stand is well mounted to the actual lamp. Though they don't tell you to use this as a real lamp, I bet you could fill it with oil and do so (it's not intended for this use, but it just seems well made).My children have grabbed this and played with it, so I know it can take some abuse without problems, but it's not really a toy.All in all, I really am pleased with the quality of this lamp.
