I have had several pepper mills in my time. I'm an avid cook, but I don't like hand-grinding pepper all the time. I read the negative reviews before buying but bought it anyway. I'm relatively technically oriented. I thought a grinder would do it. The mill arrived today. That is beautiful. The instructions are also small. tiny. I needed a magnifying glass to read them. BUT, they were very clear. Put pepper. Insert the batteries (negative side goes under the spring), reinsert the batteries and place on the grinder. Old. This works great. Nice mill. A clear winner. Please do not leave negative feedback. I love it and used it at dinner tonight. In terms of cost, as I said, I've had a lot of grinders and it's not a good idea to buy an "inexpensive" useless grinder that doesn't include a proper grinder. The insides are really important. The mechanisms in this meat grinder are wonderful. I used the board grind spectrum tonight to test the mechanism and see how well it works. Because I bought two windmills. I'm glad I did.
