Review on Beck Arnley 201-1792 Ignition Starter Switch for Improved Searching by Jesus Cordova

tried this before replacing the starter

I bought this switch for a 2004 Toyota Tundra with occasional starter problems. There are times when I turn the key, the car does nothing. I'm partially deaf and didn't even hear the click, whether it was there or not. The Tundra with the 4.7-liter V8 has the starter motor hidden under the intake manifold. So since there was no way to definitively test the starter without taking it apart, I replaced the starter/ignition switch as that could also be a problem. The price quoted on Revain was way better than what I could find locally so I ordered it. The exchange took only 10 minutes. The lower instrument panel trim is removed with 4 screws and the air vent is removed with a slight movement. There are 2 screws holding the switch in place and they are easily accessible. After replacing the derailleur I felt a definite difference in how it felt as it was much more durable and I could tell how worn the old derailleur was. However, this did not solve my problem. I still had occasional problems with the starter. A few days later the problem returned and I soon discovered that the problem was a faulty ignition starter relay. These were both easy and inexpensive repairs for disassembling half the engine! If you experience intermittent starter problems on your Toyota V8, I recommend checking and/or replacing the starter relay first!
